Carpet that is glued down without padding underneath should be vacuumed with a commercial vacuum cleaner that has a separate motor for the vacuum and the brush.

Spotting

The majority of fresh spills can be removed from carpet using clear water or very mild detergents. Be careful to blot, never scrub, and remove as much residue as possible by rinsing and absorbing.
